Eva C.’s Poems

Chicago beauty letters

All lights hug the dark streets of downtown by nine

With colors lying around each other taking people from place to place

Democrats everywhere to stand up for what is right

Grouping together as a harmony in order to gain justice

Knowing what it can look like at any moment in these streets

No one opens Nor peeks to see how this is bad

People move quickly and run

What  sick and twisted ruler we have over us

May you vanish away from “Us the people” who have an opposite opinion on your zoo like plan

Can’t you see?

I have been studied for years now since 1550 BCE because people thought I was the issue

But why me? What did I ever do to you? I’m just trying to protect you, but no

You build images in your head and make me play it as a movie for you

You think and think until i get too dizzy making you feel sick and nauseous

You have overwhelmed me until i make you upset or tired

But that was never my job since the beginning

And if i do end up doing that it was never to make you feel upset

It’s to prepare you for what could/can happen, can't you see?

The root cause of your suffering is your own thinking

The initial thought of your dream didn't cause any suffering until you began thinking about the thought

You are who is in control of me

I know you tend to Overthink but you can stop it

Event + Same thinking = Same experience

Event + New thinking = new experience

Thoughts create but Thinking destroys

The only way you can enter this space of miracles is through non-thinking. If you think, you immediately get ejected out of this space and enter a state of anxiety, worry, and suffering

You are ruining yourself, not me. Can’t you see?

Welcome to America

Welcome to America

Where guns are more valuable than your own kids

Where metal speaks louder than the cries of classrooms

Where lockdown drills teach children to hide before they can spell "safety."

Welcome to America

Where you get deported not for the crimes you committed, But for wanting to give your kids a better life you couldn’t have

Where you have to go out and work to put food on the table while having the fear of  stepping out

Where you have to look both ways to make sure you don’t become the one chosen today

Welcome to America,

Where the rich are worshipped like gods

Where the middle and low classes are seen as poor homeless

Where the money you need is in the hands of those who dare to give it up

Welcome to America,

Where women and girls are blamed for their own bruises

Where a man's future matters more than a girl's trauma

Where women are blamed for how they dress but men have the right to have an imagination off of it

Welcome to America,

Where being a Democrat makes you a disgrace

Where you are wrong for being right

Where being smart makes you dumb

Where caring for others is  “wrong”

Welcome to America,

Where Trump made cruelty a campaign strategy,

Where truth was bartered for applause,

And empathy was branded as weakness.

Where freedom is filtered through skin tone, gender, and tax bracket,

Where justice is promised but rarely delivered.
